The University of the Cordilleras Center for Creative Productions marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 17th anniversary through a concert performed by the UC Percussion and Orchestra. Held at the UC Theater on March 7, 2025, the event showcased the ensemble’s musical excellence and collaborative spirit, serving not only as a celebration of artistic achievement but also as a reflection of the University of the Cordilleras’ continued commitment to quality education, innovation, and cultural enrichment through the performing arts.
With a theme rooted in innovation and inclusivity, the 17th Anniversary Concert delivered a vibrant, genre-defying musical experience that transcended cultural and generational boundaries. The carefully curated program featured a rich blend of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) and international hits, celebrating both local artistry and global influence.Adding a dynamic twist to the evening was a creative remix of Michael Jackson’s iconic songs—paying tribute to the King of Pop while showcasing the ensemble’s originality and technical prowess. This unique fusion of musical styles reflected the orchestra’s commitment to pushing artistic boundaries while remaining deeply rooted in both Filipino identity and universal appeal.
Beyond entertainment, the concert aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education. The UC Percussion and Orchestra’s consistent delivery of outstanding performances illustrates how quality education in the arts can empower students to realize their full creative potential. It also reflects the University of the Cordilleras’ dedication to a holistic educational experience—one that values not only academic achievement but also artistic growth and cultural appreciation.
The event also supported the Cultural and Creative Productions’ (CCP) Key Result Areas (KRAs). In particular, it addressed KRA 1 G3, which emphasizes the importance of timely and relevant performances that inspire and engage the UC community. Additionally, the collaborative spirit of the ensemble showcased KRA 2 G1, which promotes the integration of innovative ideas, techniques, and strategies in performance art.
The 17th Anniversary Concert was more than a celebration—it was a testament to the ensemble’s passion, creativity, and lasting impact. As the UC Percussion and Orchestra continues to grow, it stands as a shining example of how music can inspire, connect, and elevate both education and culture at the University of the Cordilleras.
