The University of the Cordilleras (UC) proudly took center stage during the International Dance Day Concert held on April 26–27, 2025, showcasing its commitment to cultural excellence, artistic expression, and student development. The two-day event, which brought together universities and organizations from across Baguio City, was hosted at two prominent venues: Camp John Hay Manor and the Saint Louis University CCA Theater.
UC’s delegation featured three of its premier performing groups: the UC Dance Squad, UC Dance Company, and Saeng ya Kasay Cultural Ensemble. Each group brought something distinct and powerful to the stage.
The UC Dance Squad wowed the audience with a high-energy cheer dance performance, combining athleticism, rhythm, and precision. The UC Dance Company followed with a versatile and emotionally engaging repertoire, including jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop numbers that demonstrated both technical skill and creative artistry.
Highlighting UC’s cultural identity, the Saeng ya Kasay Cultural Ensemble performed a traditional dance from Apayao titled Basi—a cherished local wine that symbolizes the heart of the province’s agriculture.
UC’s participation in the International Dance Day Concert aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting inclusive, equitable learning opportunities through the performing arts. The event also supports SDG 11.4, as the Saeng ya Kasay Cultural Ensemble’s performance helps preserve and showcase the region’s cultural heritage. By empowering students and celebrating local traditions, UC fosters both educational and cultural sustainability.
In conclusion, the University of the Cordilleras’ outstanding participation in the 2025 International Dance Day Concert underscores its unwavering commitment to cultural excellence, artistic expression, and student development. By showcasing the talents of its Dance Squad, Dance Company, and Saeng ya Kasay Cultural Ensemble, UC not only provided a platform for students to shine but also reinforced its dedication to preserving and promoting local cultural heritage.
