Private Schools Athletic Association 2025: Socio-Cultural Competition

On April 7, 2025, members of the University of the Cordilleras (UC) Featured Artists proudly represented the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) in the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) 2025, held in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. The team competed under the Socio-Cultural category, which brought together top talents from various regions across the Philippines.

In the Vocal Solo category, Mr. Fritz Gerald A. Segundo, a student from the College of Engineering and Architecture, delivered a powerful and heartfelt rendition of the Original Pilipino Music (OPM) classic “Nais Ko”, composed by the esteemed Ryan Cayabyab. His performance captivated the audience with its emotional depth and vocal finesse.

For the Vocal Duet category, the stage was graced by Mr. Janhzel G. Fernandez from the College of Arts and Sciences and Ms. Eliza Jean D. Cuttermas from the College of Nursing. The duo performed the iconic love song “I Finally Found Someone” by Barbra Streisand and Bryan Adams, showcasing their vocal harmony and on-stage chemistry, earning them commendation from both judges and spectators.

Alignment with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

This participation of the University of the Cordilleras in the Socio-Cultural category of PRISAA targets the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, as it promotes cultural expression, appreciation of the arts, and national identity, which are key of having holistic education. Their involvement highlights the role of cultural and performing arts in fostering creativity, inclusivity, and lifelong learning.

The University of the Cordilleras’ strong presence in the Socio-Cultural category of PRISAA 2025 not only showcased the exceptional talent and artistry of its students but also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to holistic education and cultural development. By promoting artistic collaboration, and regional pride on a national stage, UC continues to empower its students to become well-rounded individuals who value creativity, heritage, and global citizenship.
