The University of the Cordilleras Dance Squad (UCDS) made a remarkable debut with its newly formed COED team during the 38th Milo Marathon Cheerdance Competition, securing an impressive 1st runner-up finish in the college division. This milestone marks a strong return for the Baguio-based squad, which was revived in May 2022 with the goal of regaining its national prominence.
Held in Tarlac City on October 27, 2024, the Milo Cheerdance Competition served as one of the most anticipated side events of the nationwide Milo Marathon. The high-energy performances brought additional excitement to the marathon’s 18-leg series, culminating in a grand finale at the end of the year.
Despite being first-time participants in the cheerdance segment of the Milo Marathon, the UC Dance Squad impressed the crowd and judges alike with a vibrant and well-coordinated routine. While the performance focused on fundamental cheerleading skills, it stood out for its precision, energy, and choreography—proving that solid basics can make a lasting impact when delivered with spirit and style.
The veteran Arellano University Chief Squad ultimately clinched the championship, showcasing advanced stunts and a polished routine honed by years of national-level competition. Still, the UC Dance Squad’s runner-up finish as a debuting COED team is a testament to their rapid progress and rising potential.
“The formation of our first COED team is part of our long-term vision for UCDS,” said the squad’s coaching team. “Our goal is to give our athletes more opportunities to compete, grow in confidence, and build a foundation for reclaiming our place among the country’s elite cheerleading programs.” The squad’s performance in Tarlac marks more than just a win—it symbolizes a new chapter for UC Dance Squad, one built on resilience, teamwork, and a renewed drive to once again stand on top of the national stage.
