UC Percussion and Orchestra 17th Anniversary Concert: Himig ng Lahi

On November 13, 2025, the University of the Cordilleras Percussion and Orchestra celebrated its 17th founding anniversary with a special concert at the UC Theater, featuring a celebration of the best Original Pilipino Music (OPM).

The anniversary concert showcased a carefully curated repertoire that paid tribute to iconic Filipino artists and timeless songs that have significantly shaped the country’s musical landscape. Through vibrant orchestral and percussive arrangements, the ensemble brought the audience on a nostalgic journey across different eras of OPM, evoking fond memories and fostering a deeper appreciation for Filipino musical artistry.

Highlights of the program included medleys of celebrated works by “The Rockstar Royalty” Bamboo, VST & Company, National Artist Ryan Cayabyab, and other influential Filipino musicians whose contributions continue to inspire generations of performers.

Aligned with the University of the Cordilleras’ commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the anniversary concert supports SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, particularly in strengthening efforts to protect and promote cultural heritage. By showcasing Original Filipino Music and honoring the works of iconic Filipino artists, the event contributed to the preservation and appreciation of the country’s rich musical legacy.

Moreover, the concert advances the UC Center for Creative Productions (CCP) Key Result Area 3, Goal 5, which aims to ensure that at least 75% of staff and students actively participate in internal and external initiatives that reflect UC’s culture, strengthen community identity, and promote sustainable social impact.

The 17th anniversary concert of the UC Percussion and Orchestra was more than a musical celebration—it was a testament to the University of the Cordilleras’ dedication to cultural excellence, student engagement, and social responsibility. Through music, the event strengthened community bonds, honored Filipino heritage, and reaffirmed UC’s role in nurturing creativity and cultural pride within and beyond the university.
