UC Featured Artists Represent the Cordillera at the PRISAA 2026 National Games

On May 11, 2026, members of the University of the Cordilleras (UC) Featured Artists carried the banner of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) in the Socio-Cultural Category of the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) 2026 National Games in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

Mr. Angelo T. Esprescion of the College of Arts and Sciences represented CAR in the Vocal Solo category. He delivered a moving and powerful rendition of the Original Pilipino Music (OPM) classic “Sirena” by Gloc-9 (Aristotle Pollisco), demonstrating exceptional vocal skill and emotional depth while bringing honor to both the University and the region.

In the Vocal Duet category, CAR was represented by Mr. Val Francis Dulay of the College of Criminal Justice Education and Ms. Rocel Kyle Fiaching of the College of Arts and Sciences. Mr. Dulay was recently named champion of the Battle of the Duets category at the Green Is In Music and Dance Competition, while Ms. Fiaching serves as lead vocalist of her college’s Battle of the Bands team. Together, they performed “Karakaraka” by Vice Ganda, showcasing their vocal harmony, stage presence, and artistry. Their performance reflected the vibrancy and versatility of Cordilleran talent before a national audience.

UC’s participation in the PRISAA 2026 National Games supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by promoting artistic development, cultural appreciation, and experiential learning beyond the classroom. Through national platforms such as PRISAA, students are empowered to cultivate creativity, confidence, and a deeper appreciation of cultural identity.
The participation of the UC Featured Artists as representatives of CAR also highlights the vital role of higher education institutions in preserving and promoting regional identity through the arts. By bringing Cordilleran talent to the national stage, the University contributes to the recognition and celebration of the region’s cultural richness and creative excellence.
