The University of the Cordilleras – Center for Creative Productions (UC-CCP) celebrated 18 years of creativity, artistry, and cultural expression during the closing ceremony of An Enchanting Baguio on January 17, 2026, at the Rose Garden, Baguio City.
An annual Christmas celebration organized by the City of Baguio, An Enchanting Baguio brings together various performing groups to provide free entertainment for the public, transforming the city’s festive season into a vibrant celebration of music, dance, and community.
This year’s celebration held special significance for UC-CCP as it marked a milestone in the Center’s journey of nurturing student artists and showcasing the richness of Philippine performing arts. In celebration of its 18th anniversary, the Center presented a diverse repertoire featuring cultural performances, instrumental music, dance, and choral singing, reflecting the versatility, creativity, and collective artistry of its performing groups.
Anchored on the themes Saytura and Sining na Buhay, the concert paid tribute to Original Pilipino Music (OPM) and traditional Filipino dances. Through these performances, UC-CCP sought to rekindle the audience’s appreciation for Filipino artistic expression, celebrating the melodies, rhythms, movements, and cultural narratives that form part of the nation’s identity.
Beyond entertainment, the presentation underscored the role of the performing arts in safeguarding cultural heritage and strengthening community identity. This commitment aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, particularly Target 11.4, which calls for strengthened efforts to protect and safeguard the world’s cultural and natural heritage. By bringing Filipino music and traditional dances to a public celebration, UC-CCP contributes to keeping cultural traditions visible, accessible, and appreciated by diverse audiences.
The initiative also supports SDG 4: Quality Education, particularly Target 4.7, which emphasizes education for sustainable development, appreciation of cultural diversity, and the contribution of culture to sustainable development. Through performance and artistic practice, student artists deepen their understanding of Filipino traditions while developing the skills and cultural awareness needed to become responsible bearers of heritage.
Furthermore, the Center’s participation in a citywide cultural celebration demonstrates the value of collaboration between educational institutions and local communities in promoting arts and culture. By sharing its artistic resources and providing free public performances, UC-CCP helps make cultural experiences more accessible and strengthens the connection between the university and the community it serves.
As it marks 18 years of creativity and artistry, the University of the Cordilleras – Center for Creative Productions reaffirms its commitment to cultivating Filipino cultural heritage, empowering student artists, and keeping the spirit of Philippine performing arts alive for future generations.
Eighteen years of creativity. A continuing legacy of artistry, culture, and the Filipino spirit.
