Freshmen Day 2026

The University of the Cordilleras (UC) welcomed its incoming students during Freshmen Day 2026 on September 14–15, 2026, featuring vibrant performances from the University of the Cordilleras Center for Creative Productions (UC-CCP). The event introduced freshmen to the university’s dynamic campus culture through music, dance, cultural presentations, interactive audience engagement, and presentations from various university offices.

Freshmen Day also provided students with an opportunity to learn about the services, processes, programs, and activities offered by different university offices. These presentations helped them explore opportunities to participate in campus life based on their interests, skills, and aspirations.

The program opened with an energetic performance by the UC Drumline, setting an exciting atmosphere for the celebration. The UC Chorale followed with the singing of the National Anthem, the invocation, and the UC Hymn. Showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Cordillera region, the Saeng Ya Kasay Cultural Ensemble presented traditional Kalinga and Ifugao dance routines. The celebration continued with an enthusiastic cheering performance by the UC Dance Squad, followed by the UC Dance Company, which presented “Trip Lang,” a dynamic performance featuring hip-hop, jazz, and dancesport.

To further engage the audience, the program concluded with a sing-along session featuring popular songs, including “Chinito,” performed by Yesha; “Ikaw Nga,” “Jopay,” and “Umaaraw, Umuulan,” performed by Val; “Migraine,” performed by AG; and “Paki Sabi Na Lang,” performed by Juliana. These performances created an entertaining and welcoming atmosphere, allowing incoming students to connect with the university community through shared artistic experiences.

Through this initiative, UC-CCP showcased the talent, creativity, and versatility of its performing groups while promoting cultural appreciation and student engagement. The activity supported KRA 3: Sustainability and Social Responsibility that Foster Impactful Change, particularly Goal 5 (G5), by encouraging participation in university initiatives and strengthening campus identity.

Freshmen Day 2026 also contributed to the university’s Four Pillars. Digitalization may be supported through the documentation and dissemination of performances using digital tools, subject to actual implementation. Innovation was reflected in the variety of performances and interactive activities. Globalization was promoted through exposure to diverse artistic forms and Cordilleran cultural heritage. Under the SDG Pillar, the activity supported SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, particularly cultural heritage preservation, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through collaboration among UC-CCP performing groups and university offices.

UC-CCP remains committed to promoting artistic excellence, preserving cultural heritage, and creating meaningful experiences that welcome students, encourage participation, and strengthen the University of the Cordilleras community.
